| I wish to welcome you to our parish website. Here you will find the many exciting things that going on at St. James. If you are searching for a parish please come and visit. I will be glad to welcome you. Each person who comes here is treated as if they were Christ himself. I have been a priest for 18 years most of which I spent in the Roman Catholic Church. My Bachelors Degree is from The Pontifical College Josephinum in Philosophy. My Master Degree in Theology is from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. After I was ordained for two years I was sent to Rome to obtain graduate degrees in Canon Law. I studied at the "Angelicum" Prior to my conversion to the Episcopal Church, I served as the assistant to the Bishop of Columbus, as Vice Chancellor, Master of Pontifical Ceremonies and Episcopal Vicar for Spiritual Life for the Roman Catholic Diocese. In 2005, I was received into the Episcopal Church. For those reading this, searching for a Church, The Episcopal Church has the best of all worlds in my opinion. It has the beauty of holiness in worship and at the same time its people are respected and possess a voice in its governance. The hallmarks of the Christian Church are reverence for the Holy Scriptures, understanding for the Sacred Tradition and the sound use of Reason. The use of your mind and all of your gifts are welcome and expected in this Church. This Church is One, meaning it possesses unity in essential matters but respects diversity and difference of opinion. Our unity is best expressed in that we all come together, different as we are, for the same worship. This Church is Holy. The Church is one of God's instruments in the world to lead people to holiness of life, especially through worship. Our worship lends itself to human expression through ritual and evangelical preaching. Our worship forms the way in which we believe. The principle form of our worship known as the Eucharist or the Mass is the historic way Christians have offered praise, thanksgiving and adoration to God for over 2,000 years. This Church is Catholic, meaning it is universal, spread throughout the world. This Church is Apostolic, tracing its roots to Jesus Christ and the Apostles. On behalf to the parish family of St. James, I wish to invite you here. Many people today are searching for a Church. They are looking for programs for children and interesting educational opportunities. St. James offers that and many more opportunities. But most importantly, we offer you the invitation to join us in praising Jesus Christ, who establishes meaning for our lives, shows us how to live and love, suffered and died for us, redeemed us by his blood and is the beginning and the end of us all. "Laudetur Iesus Christus, sit semper laudetur ... amen!" "Praised be Jesus Christ, may he always be praised ... amen!" Fr. Robert Willmann+

Email: susanrills@gmail.com | JANE ELLEN WILES - Administrative Secretary A life-long resident of Muskingum County and a member and communicant of the former Episcopal parishes of St. Matthews and Zion in the northern part of the county, I have been an active member of St. James for over 30 years. Over the years I have served as an officer of the Altar Guild, St. Hilda’s Guild and the Episcopal Church Women, taken part in Women’s Bible Study, helped with Vacation Bible School and of course worked at the famous Shrove Tuesday Dinner. I sing in the choir and have been active in many other aspects of parish life. I was hired as parish secretary in 1997 and in that position continue to be involved in many aspects of thelife at St. James, both administrative and social. I was fortunate to be a delegate to the 2006 Diocesan convention and take part in the election of the ninth bishop of southern Ohio. I did find it a bit scary when I realized that my life spans the terms of five ofthe eight previous bishops of the Diocese. I enjoy various types of needle work, particularly crochet, and usually have a project or two in the works. Another love is local history and genealogy and I try to keep historical records of St. James, both oraland written. My husband Michael and I live a few miles north east of Zanesville. Michael is a truck driver who currently works for USF Holland in Columbus. We are the parents of one son, James who lives and works in Columbus. |
